The Handoff pro agreement

Plain words, and every number here is the number in the product. Version 2026-09-24. You sign it once, on your setup page, before we pay you.

1. Who does what

Customers book and pay Handoff (operated by Cactivate, Inc) for the job. Handoff hires you, as an independent business, to do it. Replying YES to an offer is a contract for that one job: the work, the place, the window and your pay, all stated in the offer before you say yes.

2. You run your own business

You choose which offers to take and can pass on any of them. You decide how to do the work and bring your own tools. You are not our employee, you get no benefits from us, and you can work for anyone else. There is no fee to join and no fee per lead.

3. Your pay, and when

We pay you the pay in the offer, plus a $10 bonus when you tap On my way and arrive inside the window. Extra work is paid only when the customer approved it on the job card first. We send your pay by the method you chose (Zelle, Venmo or Cash App) within 30 days of the job being finished; usually it goes out within a day or two after the customer's 24-hour window, and sooner when they rate you 4 or better. We text you when it's sent. A customer who cancels inside 24 hours or isn't home pays you a $40 trip fee.

4. When money comes back

If a customer's bank reverses the payment for your job (a chargeback) because the work wasn't done, wasn't done as described, or caused damage, and we lose that dispute, we can take what we lost back from your future pay, up to the pay for that job. We tell you first, show you the customer's claim, and take your side and photos to the bank. We never take back money for a reversal that has nothing to do with your work, such as a stolen card. A no-show refunds the customer $40 out of your next payout.

5. Showing up

Show up in the window or tell us 24 hours ahead. Do the job as described and nothing extra until the customer approves it on the card. A cancellation inside 24 hours is a strike, a no-show is two; 3 strikes in 90 days pauses your account until we talk.

6. Customers you meet through us

Don't take payment from a customer directly for work they booked through Handoff, and don't ask them to book you outside Handoff. Your regulars come back to you first when they book with us.

7. What's yours

Your taxes, licenses, insurance, tools and crew. Damage you cause is yours to make right; tell us within 24 hours. A current liability insurance certificate earns the Insured badge customers see. We send you a 1099 when the law requires one.

8. Your details

We keep your tax number encrypted and use it only for tax filings. Only its last four digits are ever shown, to anyone. Your address and phone number are never shown to customers.

9. Problems

If a customer reports a problem, we text you for your side and a person decides, with the photos and the arrival record. Pay for a disputed job waits until it's settled.

10. Ending it, and changes

Either of us can end this at any time. Jobs you already accepted are still owed on both sides: you do them or hand them back 24 hours ahead, and we pay for the work you did. We text you before changing this agreement; the version you signed covers the jobs you accepted under it. New York law applies.
